Ramban mishap: Construction Company likely to face action | | |

JAMMU, May 21: With the recovery of bodies of all ten workers trapped in debris, rescue operation is completed.
“All 10 bodies are recovered and families have been informed. Five of 10 bodies are from West Bengal. This operation is complete. Bodies shifted to hospital”, Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mussarat Islam said.
Sources said that with the registration of FIR, the company engaged in the widening of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway is likely to face the action. Superintendent of Police (SP), Ramban Mohita Sharma has already made it clear that FIR has been launched in the matter. Compensation will be given by the company.
The rescue operation at the Ramban site in which was put on hold late Friday evening after a fresh landslide, has resumed on Saturday.
Reports said that authorities have resumed the debris clearing operation at the landslide site.
The number of machinery and technical people has been increased to finish the work as soon as possible.

SRINAGAR, May 21: The mainstream politicians of Kashmir remained divided over paying tributes to Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone on their death anniversaries falling on May 21, which also coincides with the assassination anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
Former minister and Peoples Conference, President, Sajad Lone took to the social media to pay tributes to his own father, Abdul Gani Lone. NEW DELHI, May 21: Providing major relief to common man from high fuel prices, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today announced that the central excise duty on petrol will be slashed by Rs 8 per litre and on diesel by Rs 6 per litre. The Minister said it will reduce the price of petrol by Rs 9.5 per litre and of diesel by Rs 7 per litre. She said this will have "revenue implication" of around Rs 1 lakh crore per year for the government. SRINAGAR, May 21: The employment verification process for government positions in Jammu and Kashmir has become digital, officials said here on Saturday. The Union Territory government, through a General Administration Department order on May 20, notified that from June 1, the verification rolls on first appointment to any position in the government shall be processed digitally through a specially-designed web portal.
