RTO Jammu issues notices to automobile dealers, blocks their user IDs | Tries to stay away from controversy over sale of vehicles during COVID-19 lockdown | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 22: Despite COVID-19 lockdown being in place in Jammu region, automobile dealers are selling two wheelers and four wheelers.
On Friday police had arrested the owner and other staff members of M/S Jainco Motors Rehari for defying lockdown restrictions. A case under section 188 IPC was registered against all the persons, after their bail, they were freed by the police.
Earlier this week Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Jammu had issued notices to various automobile dealers for violation of Section 192B (2) of Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and had blocked the user IDs of many dealers.
The section 192B (2) of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, it has been provides: “Whoever, being a dealer, fails to make an application for the registration of a new motor vehicle under the second proviso to sub-section (1) of section 41 shall be punishable with fine of fifteen times the annual road tax or the lifetime tax of the motor vehicle whichever is higher.”

Srinagar, May 22: The LG administration in Jammu and Kashmir has sought a detailed report over the increasing number of fatalities due to COVID-19 at Government Medical College Jammu in spite of the fact that the latest facilities have been put in place in the hospital to save precious human lives. As per the figures coming to the fore, till date this month, 1182 COVID-19 -infected patients have died, and out of these, 342 deaths i.e. 29 percent have occurred at GMC Jammu only. Reports informed that the LG administration has sought a detailed report from those at the helm in the hospital over the reason behind spike in the fatalities during the ongoing month.

Jammu, May 22: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday extended till May 31 the curfew imposed across the union territory to curb the spread of coronavirus.
The restrictions were scheduled to end on May 24.
“Corona Curfew imposed in all 20 distts (districts) of J&K till 7 am on Monday, 24/5/21 is extended further till 7 am on Monday, 31/5/21. Curfew will be strict except for a few essential services.
