Kashmir gets “Rowing Centre, Jammu awaits “Fencing Centre” | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 24: Even after the lapse of eight months “Fencing Centre” announced by the Central Government in Jammu division hasn’t started functioning, while “Rowing Centre” in Kashmir has started functioning.
Under Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE) the Union Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs last year announced two Centres of Excellence for Jammu and Kashmir division which were named as Centre of Excellence for Rowing in Srinagar and another at the Maulana Azad Stadium for Fencing in Jammu. Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju in April this year inaugurated the Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE) for Rowing in Srinagar at the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council Water Sports Academy. The KISCE will focus on rowing and will be provided a first-time grant of Rs 145.16 lakh and an annual recurring grant of Rs 96.17 lakhs.

Jammu, May 23: Staff of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) without salary as salary bills for the month have not been submitted in the Treasury yet.
Sources informed Early Times that salary of the School Principal has been withheld by Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Khour, and he is not producing the salary bills for other staff members.

Jammu, May 24: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Monday declared black fungus (Mucormycosis) an epidemic in the state.
A notification regarding the same was issued by Health and Medical Education Department of the Union Territory under Section 2 of the Epidemic Disease Act 1897.
This comes few days after the Centre directed all the states and UTs to make black fungus a notifiable disease.
According to the notification, “No person/ institution or organization will spread any information or material for management of Mucormycosis without prior permission from Director Health Services, Jammu/Kashmir,” reads a notification.

JAMMU, May 24: The pilgrimage to World famous Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, located in the Trikuta Hills of Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed slump in the past two months due to surging cases of COVID-19 in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir like other parts of the country.

NEW DELHI, May 24: The feature for on-site registration and appointment is now being enabled for the 18-44 years age group on CoWIN, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Monday.
However, the feature is being enabled only for Government COVID Vaccination Centers (CVCs), at the present moment in time.

To facilitate night landing in days to come, the newly constructed runway is likely to be commissioned in the month of August here at Jammu Airport.
