Admin inertia continues in J&K | 12 yrs on, service rules for LC yet to be finalized | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 26: There seems no change in the prevailing administrative inertia in Government departments, as even after lapse of over 12 years since the process of formulation of service rules for Legislative Council was initiated, there is no headway.
According to sources in the Law department, the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council and JK Legislative Assembly Rules 1959 have been followed since decades for making appointments or promotions of the employees in the Legislative Council as well as Legislative Assembly.
"The rules have not been amended since 1959. The process for the formulation of service rules was initiated way back in year 2006 and the file was forwarded for vetting of Law department in year 2007", sources said, adding that since then the file has been gathering dust.
Sources further alleged that in the absence of new service rules there were allegations that to adjust blue-eyed persons on various posts, the parameters for recruitments were tailored, which drew strong criticism.
It also came to fore during the advertisement of posts of v...

In LS polls people voted for Modi, Assembly elections in J&K a different ball game | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 26: The recently concluded Lok Sabha polls are an indication that Congress in Jammu and Peoples Democratic Party in Kashmir are on a sticky wicket and the forthcoming Assembly elections can spell the doom for both the parties.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said that the BJP winning both the Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and another in Ladakh has boosted the morale of the party leaders but they are ignoring an important factor i.e. in the recent Parliamentary polls no one voted for a particular candidate. "People across the country voted for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in most of the places people even didn't know the name of the BJP candidate," he add...
| | Mission 44+ is J&K BJP's day dreaming | | | Early Times Report

J&K BJP chief on Friday claimed that the BJP will achieve its 44+ target and form the next government in the state.
If its current performance in J&K is any indication, then it can be safely said that the BJP is seeking to achieve the unachievable.
What does the poll results in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh suggest as far as the desire of the BJP to form its own government in the state is concerned? Can it achieve the 44+ target in the state given its demog...

Srinagar, May 26: Even as most of the senior leaders of the National Conference on Saturday called on Dr Farooq Abdullah at his Gupkar residence here to greet him on his victory in the Parliament elections, his son Omar Abdullah was conspicuous for his absence at the celebrations. While Dr Abdullah is the patron, Omar is the working President of the National Conference and his absence at the celebrations at the residence of the leader have sent a "wrong signal" as the son lives only next to him on the Gupkar road in Srinagar.
