Jammu, May 3: On a day when the Indian Army, Air Force and the Navy expressed gratitude to the “Corona Warriors”, the J&K Health and Medical Education Department, terminated services of 34 staff nurses engaged under SRO-24.
The military jets this morning carried out a fly-past over the national capital as part of a nationwide exercise to express gratitude to lakhs of doctors, paramedics, sanitation staff and other front-line workers engaged in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
In J&K the termination order of staff nurses issued by Principal GMC Baramulla, vide no GMC/BLA/2020/1381-89, dated 02/05/2020 read: “As directed by the Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education, J&K, the extension order of staff nurses which was issued by this office under order no. 52-GMCB of 2020 dated 06/04/2020 and order no 60-GMCBof 2020dated 30/04/2020 stands cancelled. The services of staff nurses mentioned in these orders are therefore withdrawn w.e.f. 03/05/2020.”

SRINAGAR, May 3: As Jammu & Kashmir is increasing its testing capacity for the Corona Virus suspected cases the positive cases are also increasing in the union territory especially Kashmir valley. Today while 34 cases were reported from Kashmir one case came to the fore from Samba district in Jammu division.
With the fresh cases reported today the number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir has reached 701. As 287 persons have recovered and eight others have died the number of active cases in the union territory are 406. As on date there are 397 active cases of Corona Virus in Kashmir while as the number of such cases are nine in Jammu division.

Leh, May 3: As many as 19 people tested positive for coronavirus in Ladakh on Sunday, taking the virus tally in the union territory to 41, officials said.
The new cases include 18 from Chuchot Yokma village of Leh, the biggest single-day spike in the region, the officials said.
The village was declared a containment area on March 17 after three locals had tested positive for COVID-19.
The officials said a 52-year-old woman, a resident of Kaksar village of Kargil, also tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday.

Jammu, May 3: With the government of India extending the prevailing COVID-19 lockdown by another two weeks, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday extended the closure of educational institutions and training institutes till May 17.
The institutions were first closed by the government till March 31 and have remained so in view of the ongoing all India lockdown announced later from March 24 till April 14 which was extended till May 3.

BARAMULLA, May 3: Despite putting all their efforts in containing the spread of Covid-19, 11 fresh cases were reported in Kupwara, and 3 in Baramulla district of north Kashmir.
According to media bulletin that, there are 11 fresh cases that were reported in Kupwara district and three new cases were reported today in Baramulla district and no positive case was found in Bandipora district.
Baramulla has recovered 34 cases, while as 19 have been recovered in Bandipora and 23 recovered in Kupwara today and with this the total no of recovered cases in north Kashmir are 76 today, while as 112 have recovered as on date in north Kashmir, said sources.

KUPWARA, May 3: At least 8 civilians were injured after an explosive device went off in the air at Ahgam Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district.
Sources said that an explosive device exploded at Ahgam area in Zachaldara block, which is 5 kms away from the today's encounter spot.
The incident happened when some boys were playing with the device fond by the two guys in the nearby lawns, sources told ET.
