Promise of changing SKUAST-J nomenclature awaits implementation | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 3: After the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of J&K into two Union Territories (UTs), it was promised that the nomenclature of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu should be changed as this demand was raised by as teaching and non-teaching staff.
For the last so many years people have been agitating to change the name of SKUAST-J to Agriculture University of Jammu but nothing has been done so far,.
In January 2020, a delegation of the teachers of the SKUAST-J met the then Union Minister of State of Agriculture, Kailash Choudhary who had assured to solve this issue.
After the bifurcation of J&K into two UTs, it is high time to get this long pending demand of the people of Jammu fulfilled because there is reason to continue same name of two universities.
Name of two varsities in the same UT namely SKUAST - Jammu and SKUAST –Kashmir is creating a lot of controversy and confusions among the masses.

Jammu, May 3: Even as all eyes are on the probe by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir VK Bhiduria into conman Kiren Patel case to fix responsibility for alleged negligence on the part of officials in the administration, the official is allegedly yet to question the accused.
Official sources told the Early Times that the Divisional Commissioner was yet to question the accused even as some of the officials who were under the scanner have been questioned in connection with the case.
The sources said the civil administration has yet not made any requisition to the Jammu and Kashmir Police for questioning of Patel, who, as per the cops, is jailed in Srinagar.

Jammu, May 3: Notwithstanding tall claims of the authorities to impart professional training to the youth of J&K, a large number of seats remained vacant this year in the engineering colleges even after the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE). The admission process for engineering colleges is going on but the response of the candidates is not encouraging. Reports said that in the recent past, the trend for professional studies in Jammu and Kashmir has completely changed. Srinagar, May 3: Security forces foiled an infiltration bid by killing two unidentified militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Wednesday, Srinagar based defence spokesman said.
The bid was foiled in Machil sector of the frontier district.
The spokesman said the troops along the LoC were put on a high alert on May 1, following a a specific intelligence input provided by Senior Superintendent of Police, Kupwara of likely infiltration from one of the launch pads.

NEW DELHI, May 3: The Union Home Ministry on Wednesday said millets-based dishes will be served in the meals of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
The decision to introduce 30 per cent millets in the meals has been taken as per the directive of Union Home Minister Amit Shah after detailed discussion with all the forces, an official statement said.
