Katra Police trying to hush up my daughter’s murder case, alleges father | | |

Jammu, May 4: Basant Lal, father of a teenage girl, who was found hanging in a hotel in Katra last month, on Thursday accused Police of trying to hush-up the alleged murder of his daughter.
Basant Lal while talking to reporters here said that he has lost all hope to get justice due to the alleged “casual approach” of the senior police officers in this sensitive case.
“No one is ready to listen to me. For the last week, I have been approaching one officer after another but to no avail, as cops are not ready to even listen to my grievance”, Lal said.
“It is all due to my economic condition that police officers are taking the mysterious murder of my daughter casually”, said, Lal, who is a resident of a remote village of Ramnagar area of Udhampur.

Srinagar, May 4: Even as the revered Mela Khirbhawani is scheduled to be held later this month, the devotees have sought intervention of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to improve the civic facilities at the temple. Prominent Kashmiri Pandit and celebrity, Sanjay Raina during his visit to the temple, posted a video showing that devotees have to wash their hands over a drain where the tap has been installed. Accusing the Dharamarth Trust of failing to look after the temple, he said a management board comprising of Kashmiri Pandits should be raised or that administration should look after the facilities. He sought the personal intervention of the Union Home Minister.

Srinagar, May 4: Security forces shot dead two newly recruited militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba in a gun battle in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Thursday morning, police said.
This was the second gunfight in Kashmir in less than 24 hours.
The fresh gunfight broke out at Wanigam Kreeri area Baramulla during a cordon and a search operation which was launched following an input about militant presence.
" As the forces cordoned the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists opened fire triggering a gunfight. In the operation two terrorists were killed," a security official said.

Jammu, May 4: Two persons were killed and five suffered critical injuries when a major fire broke out in a private hotel in Sanasar tourist spot in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.
District Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam told UNI that a fire broke out in Hotel Maa Shanti in Sanasar in which two people have died and five got critical burn injuries. "One Delhi based tourist has been rescued while the injured (all from J&K) have been rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu," said the Deputy Commissioner.

New Delhi, May 4: For the first first more than half of Indians, 759 million citizens, are active internet users and access the internet at least once a month, a joint report by industry body IAMAI and market data analytics firm Kantar said on Wednesday.
