Please come back,” 10-year-old Pawana Chib cried as she stretched out her hand to touch the face of her father, paratrooper Neelam Singh, who lay in a coffin before her on Saturday. Standing next to her, Chib’s mother Vandana is staring in disbelief at her husband’s lifeless face held between her hands before she breaks down.

New Delhi, May 6: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday took stock of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir's border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, where terrorists have killed 35 people, including 26 soldiers, in eight attacks since October 2021. The visit of the defence minister to Rajouri comes a day after five elite para commandos of the army were killed during an anti-terrorist operation in the forested Kandi area of the district.

Jammu, May 6: As gunfight between trapped terrorists and security forces resumed late midnight, Northern Command Army Commander, Lieutenant General, Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday morning reviewed the operational situation at ground zero on the 'Operation Trinetra' ongoing in Kandi belt of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Srinagar, May 6: Security forces shot dead a local militant of Lashkar-e-Taiba in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Saturday, police said.
The gunfight broke out at Karhama Kunzer area Baramulla during a cordon and a search operation which was launched by police, Army and CRPF following an input about militant presence.

Srinagar, May 6: Jammu and Kashmir Police's Special Investigation Unit (SIU) on Saturday conducted searches in the house of an active militant of Hizbul Mujahideen in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district, police said.
They said the searches were carried in the residential premises of Abdul Gani Bhat, father of active militant Farooq Ahmad Bhat alias Nali, at Chek Desen Yaripora in a case pertaining to the killing of five non-local labourers at Katrosa Kulgam in 2019.
Police said Farooq Bhat is an active militant of Hizb and is wanted in many terror related cases.

Mumbai, May 6: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat will be on a five-day visit to Gujarat from Monday for the 'Sangh Shiksha Varg' training camp for volunteers, the RSS said. Bhagwat will be in Vadodara between May 8-12. He will guide volunteers at the Sangh Shiksha Varg training camp for the western region covering the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa, the Sangh said in a statement on Saturday.
