JAMMU, June 11: Emphasizing that peace is imperative for the development and socio-economic growth of the people, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha today sought the support of the civil society to isolate terrorists and their supporters.
“Society as a whole must condemn the targeted killings of innocent people. A female teacher who played a key role in shaping young lives was killed. If society doesn’t condemn such acts then we are failing humanity”, he said.
Rajni Bala, a Dalit teacher of Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, was killed by terrorists in a cowardly attack on May 31. Posted in Government High School Gopalpora in Kulgam district of Kashmir, Ranji Bala was killed as soon as she entered the school.

SRINAGAR, June 11: Security forces shot dead a militant of Hizbul-Mujahideen in an ongoing operation in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

SRINAGAR, June 11: Security forces found a suspicious object suspected to be an improvised explosive device (IED) in Sopore in the morning today, official sources said.
They said the suspicious object was found at Hygam area along the Srinagar-Baramulla highway during a routine road opening drill by the forces. The area was immediately cordoned off and the traffic along the busy highway was suspended.

SRINAGAR, June 11: A day after two newly recruited Laskhar-e-Toiba ultras were arrested in Baramulla district, police said that the duo were tasked to target panchayat raj institution representatives and minority community.
Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla Rayees Mohammad Bhat, said the two identified as Irshad Ahmad Mir and Zahid Bashir both residents of Nehalpora, Pattan were arrested on Friday from Palhalan. SRINAGAR, June 11: A soldier was killed when lightning struck at a post along the Line of Control in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir last night, officials said today. The lightning struck at a post of the Indian Army in the Gulmarg sector in which the soldier, Lokendra Singh of 18 Rashtriya Rifles was killed. “His body was later shifted to a hospital for legal formalities,” they said. SRINAGAR, June 11: Kashmir-based YouTuber Faisal Wani was arrested today for uploading a mock video where he is enacting the beheading of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, officials said. Wani's arrest came hours after he deleted the video on his You-tube channel and issued an apology. A senior police officer confirmed his arrest. J&K Police took cognizance of the video and registered an FIR in Srinagar's Safa Kadal Police Station under section 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code against the YouTuber.
