BJP analyzes below-par performance in Jammu region | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 11: Worried over the drastic decline of the party’s vote share in Jammu province, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has initiated an introspective process to understand the reasons for not up to the mark performance.
The party has started the self-examining process to ascertain the reasons behind its lackluster performance in several Assembly segments of the Jammu region during the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Despite retaining two seats and securing their third consecutive term, the party leadership is concerned about diminishing winning margins.
The party’s central command has tasked the Jammu and Kashmir unit, led by Ravinder Raina, with investigating the factors contributing to this decline.
Notably, even non-BJP candidates supported by the saffron party faced challenges, particularly in the Anantnag constituency, which encompasses Rajouri and Poonch districts in Jammu.
The BJP had previously granted Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Pahari-speaking people of Rajouri and Poonch, anticipating their support in the election.

Jammu, June 11: Survivors of the June 9 terrorist attack on pilgrims in Reasi district have said that the attackers kept on firing at the fallen bus for almost 20 minutes.
They said that after the driver was hit in the firing, the bus plunged into a deep gorge in the Poni area of the district and the terrorists kept shooting indiscriminately. Five of the deceased had gunshot wounds. And, out of the 41 injured, 10 suffered gunshot injuries.

Srinagar, June 11: Three over ground workers of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) have been arrested in Pulwama district in connection with the recovery of two improvised explosive devices, police said on Tuesday.
The explosive devices, weighing about six kgs, were recovered on Sunday and were destroyed a day later, a police official said.

NEW DELHI, June 11: Indian universities and higher education institutions will now be allowed to offer admissions twice a year on lines of foreign universities with the University Grants Commission giving a go ahead to the plan, UGC chief Jagadesh Kumar said.
