Over 60k security personnel to be deployed from Lakhanpur to Cave Shrine

Early Times Report Jammu, June 13: In a bid to augment security arrangements for the pilgrims, more than 60,000 security personnel from the para-military forces will be deployed from Lakhanpur to the Cave Shrine during the 62-day long Shri Amarnath Yatra starting from July 1. The deployment is expected to be made from June 20. "The tight security arrangements are being made for an upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra starting from July 1," official sources said on Tuesday. They said that more than 60,000 security personnel mostly from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) besides companies of ITBP, BSF, SSF, CISF will also join them to strengthen the security structure during the yatra period. "Security is always a challenge every year because attempts to disrupt the smooth conduct of the yatra by the anti-national elements cannot be ruled out but our security forces are capable enough to handle any situation," said an official. Early Times Report Jammu, June 12: The security scenario will further be augmented with installation of Closed Circuit Cameras (CCTVs) at 16 identified railway stations in the Jammu Division. A senior railway official told news agency that CCTVs are being installed at 16 railway stations of Jammu division falling under Ferozpur Division. He said that the installation of CCTVs is being done under the Railway Department under Nirbhaya Fund that is being utilized towards enhancing safety and security on trains with a special focus on female travellers. Compulsory retirement can’t be based solely on committee recommendations: HC

Early Times Report Jammu, June 13: A Division Bench of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, comprising Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice Puneet Gupta, has ruled that compulsory retirement of a government servant cannot be solely based on the recommendations of a committee. The court emphasized that the competent authority must form a bona fide opinion in the public interest before ordering compulsory retirement. Earthquake jolts Kashmir

Early Times Report Srinagar, June 13: An earthquake of mild intensity jolted Kashmir valley on Tuesday, officials said. The magnitude of the earthquake was measured on the Richter scale 5.4 with the epicenter at latitude 33.15 in the north and longitude 75.82 in the east.
