Over 60k security personnel to be deployed from Lakhanpur to Cave Shrine | Amarnath Yatra 2023 | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 13: In a bid to augment security arrangements for the pilgrims, more than 60,000 security personnel from the para-military forces will be deployed from Lakhanpur to the Cave Shrine during the 62-day long Shri Amarnath Yatra starting from July 1.
The deployment is expected to be made from June 20. "The tight security arrangements are being made for an upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra starting from July 1," official sources said on Tuesday.
They said that more than 60,000 security personnel mostly from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) besides companies of ITBP, BSF, SSF, CISF will also join them to strengthen the security structure during the yatra period.
"Security is always a challenge every year because attempts to disrupt the smooth conduct of the yatra by the anti-national elements cannot be ruled out but our security forces are capable enough to handle any situation," said an official.

Srinagar, June 13: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday attached property of All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Ayaz Akbar at Shalteng area, official sources said.
The development came a day after the NIA attached 17 properties of prominent Kashmiri businessman Zahoor Ahmad Watali in the Handwara area of North Kashmir in a case related to militancy funding.

Jammu, June 12: The security scenario will further be augmented with installation of Closed Circuit Cameras (CCTVs) at 16 identified railway stations in the Jammu Division.
A senior railway official told news agency that CCTVs are being installed at 16 railway stations of Jammu division falling under Ferozpur Division.
He said that the installation of CCTVs is being done under the Railway Department under Nirbhaya Fund that is being utilized towards enhancing safety and security on trains with a special focus on female travellers.

Srinagar, June 13: Two unidentified militants were killed on Tuesday, as the security forces foiled an infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, police said.
The militants were intercepted and killed close to the Line of Control in Machil sector of Kupwar.

Srinagar, June 13: An earthquake of mild intensity jolted Kashmir valley on Tuesday, officials said.
The magnitude of the earthquake was measured on the Richter scale 5.4 with the epicenter at latitude 33.15 in the north and longitude 75.82 in the east.
The tremors were felt in Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir valley for a few seconds. The tremors were felt at 1.33 pm with the 6km depth north east of Doda in Jammu and Kashmir.
