Jammu, June 14: Minister of State Defence Ajay Bhat who recently visited Jammu reportedly expressed dismay over Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Mayor Rajinder Sharma and BJP J&K president Ravinder Raina not being informed about his visit.
Sources said when the Union Minister reached Nowshera Sunderbani, he was told that Raina is the former MLA of the area. Bhat, according to the sources, asked the officials why Raina was not informed about his visit. “Bhat was told that Raina would meet him in Jammu,” sources added.
They said when Bhat reached Rahgunath Mandir in Jammu to pay obeisance, he enquired about JMC, Mayor, Rajinder Sharma, who is also a BJP leader and Ravinder Raina. Bhat asked the officials why Sharma and Raina were not informed about his visit. “Next time I visit Jammu, I will ensure that my PRO informs the important people,” sources quoted Bhat as having said. Kupwara solar light scam: Inquiry panel misses deadline to submit report | | |

Jammu, June 14: Two months have passed after the announcement of an inquiry into the much-publicized Rs 6 crore Kupwara solar light scam but the probe panel has yet to submit its report.
After the detection of the scam, authorities had ordered a high-level inquiry on April 18, 2023, to fix the responsibility on officers responsible for this scandal. Three engineers who were involved in installing solar lights were also attached till the completion of the inquiry.
Sources said the inquiry panel was asked to submit its report within a month’s time to initiate action against those who were involved in swindling government funds.

Jammu, June 14: After making students run from one city to another to appear in Common University Entrance Test (CUET) the Education Department on Tuesday announced that the students who missed the exam can take admission in any college.
A parent, who had taken his daughter from Jammu to Punjab to appear in the CUET, said, “I had to spend Rs 10,000 on boarding and travelling expenses. Now, the government has announced that students can take admissions in the colleges of their own choice.”
He said, “Hundreds of parents like me accompanied their children from Jammu to other cities and paid through their nose to ensure that their wards appear in the CUET.”

Jammu, June 14: While authorities are busy assessing losses of Tuesday’s earthquake of a 5.4 magnitude in the Chenab region, Jammu province of Jammu and Kashmir jolted with four more tremours in a time of just five hours on early Wednesday morning.
Officials said there were no reports so far of any loss of life or damage to property.
Reports said that panic gripped residents of Katra town of Reasi district and the Kishtwar and Doda districts of the Chenab region.
In the Kishtwar region of Jammu province, a 3.3 magnitude quake was recorded at 8.29 am. Its epicentre was at a depth of five kilometres, as per the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).
