Kashmir doctor under scanner for jumping the gun on Covid-19 | | |

Srinagar, June 17: A Director at a government owned hospital in the summer capital of Srinagar has come under scanner for jumping the gun that Jammu and Kashmir is in community transmission phase of the Covid-19 spread whereas the Union Government has clarified that such was not the case anywhere across the country.
Sources said the office of Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu has received complaints against the allegedly erring Director for his irresponsible statement and that action was expected in the coming days.
On June 8, a day after Jammu and Kashmir faced its biggest spike in the number of Covid-19 positive cases, the director of the super specialty said that community spread has already started in Kashmir.
The said Director had told a news agency that “Kashmir is facing community spread of COVID-19. This is a reality and we must accept it and learn to live with it.”
But there days after his irresponsible statement, the central government refuted all such claims.

Jammu, June 17: School Education Department concentrating on accommodating the kith and kin of the influential people and not conducting the Departmental Promotion Committee meetings for the past six years has triggered unrest within the department.
According to the documents in possession of Early Times around 200 Class-IV employees in the School Education department including lab bearers, library bearers, peons and other Class-IV were promoted in the year 2014 as in-charge lab assistants, junior assistants, library assistants and on some other posts but the confirmation of the regularization on the posts were subject to the conduct of DPC.

SRINAGAR, June 17: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has sought details from Roads and Buildings department (R&B) about the works that were executed from 2015 to 2018.
Official sources revealed that there were allegations that numerous procedural violations were made in the allocation of macdamization works. “The government was informed that several roads have started developing potholes that were executed from 2015 to 2018 and many got damaged within weeks,” sources said.
“After receiving several complaints the government had directed ACB to look into the matter,” a senior official said.

SRINAGAR, June 17: The death toll due to the Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir reached 64 as one more COVID-19 patient died today. Meanwhile, 108 fresh cases of the virus were reported from the union territory today.
Reports said that a 65 years old man from Shopian died at the SKIMS, Soura here this morning. As on date 57 COVID-19 patients have died in Kashmir while as the casualties from Jammu are seven. In the meantime, with the fresh cases the total number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir is 5,406.
