BJP leaders asked to avoid cheap publicity through social media | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 18: In the wake of the below-expectation performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections, the BJP leadership in Jammu and Kashmir has issued a cautionary message to its cadre, emphasizing the need for introspection over the party’s underwhelming performance in its traditional strongholds.
The Congress party has made notable gains in these areas, which has raised concerns within the BJP ranks.
During a meeting held at the BJP headquarters, party leadership realized that support of the weaker sections especially Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) is dwindling due to the failure of the party workers to reach out to these marganized sections.
In the meeting, it was observed that instead of reaching out to these sections, most of the party leaders indulged in cheap publicity by using social media.

New Delhi, Jun 18: Net direct tax collection grew 21 per cent to Rs 4.62 lakh crore so far this fiscal on higher advance tax mop-up, the income tax department said on Tuesday.
The first instalment of advance tax, which was due on June 15, showed collections rose 27.34 per cent to Rs 1.48 lakh crore. This includes Corporation Tax (CIT) at Rs 1.14 lakh crore and
Personal Income Tax (PIT) at Rs 34,470 crore.
The net direct tax collection of Rs 4,62,664 crore (as of June 17, 2024) includes CIT at Rs 1,80,949 crore and PIT (including Securities Transaction Tax) at Rs 2,81,013 crore, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a statement.

Jammu, June 18: Suspected terrorists on Tuesday struck again and reportedly fired at the security forces in Surankote belt of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said suspected terrorists opened fire at a police team in upper reaches of Surankot in Poonch.
