The counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections and state assemblies of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and the assembly by-polls will commence at 8 AM on June 4, the Election Commission said on Saturday.
The counting of votes for the assembly polls in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh will start from 6 AM on Sunday, it said.
The counting of votes for the assembly polls in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh was advanced from June 4 to June 2 as the term of the two assemblies are ending on June 2 and a new House has to be constituted by that day.

JAMMU, June 1: Exit Polls on Saturday projected three seats for the National Conference (NC) in Jammu and Kashmir and two seats for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Most of the Exit Polls have predicted Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary seats to the NC and the two seats of Jammu and Kathua-Udhampur to the BJP.
The main contest in the Srinagar constituency was between Syed Ruhullah Mehdi of the NC and Waheed Parra of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Centre on Saturday clarified reports in some sections of the media on Accredited Driver Training Centers (ADTC) and driving schools, saying that there will not be any changes from June 1 to the existing rules.

The Union government has dismissed a CRPF DIG from service on charges of sexual misconduct levelled against him by some women personnel of the country’s largest paramilitary force, officials said on Saturday.
An order from the President of India’s office for “dismissal from service” was issued on May 30 against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and former sports officer of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Khajan Singh.
The dismissal from service is effective from May 31, the order said.

New Delhi, June 1:
The country’s gross GST collections rose to Rs 1.73 lakh crore in May, growing 10 per cent year on year driven by increased revenues from domestic transactions, the finance ministry said on Saturday.
GST collections had touched a record high of Rs 2.10 lakh crore last month.
“The gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue for the month of May 2024 stood at Rs 1.73 lakh crore,” the ministry said in a statement.
The 10 per cent year-on-year growth in May collection is driven by a strong increase in revenues from domestic transactions (up 15.3 per cent) amid slowing of imports (down 4.3 per cent).

SRINAGAR, June 1: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested 171 drug peddlers, including 44 hard-core ones under the Narco Act, and recovered contraband worth Rs 51.62 crore during the first five months of this year in Baramulla district.
The police said the properties of 16 notorious drug peddlers worth Rs 5.5 crore were also attached during this period.
As many as 95 drug peddlers were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and 44 hard-core ones under Prevention of Illicit Traffic (PIT-NDPS) Act. In addition, 15 vehicles used for activities were also seized in the district during the five months of 2024.

NEW DELHI, June 1:
Jet fuel or ATF price on Saturday was reduced by a steep 6.5 per cent and that of commercial LPG used by hotels and restaurants by Rs 69 per 19-kg cylinder on declining international oil prices.
Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) price was cut by Rs 6,673.87 per kilolitre, or 6.5 per cent, to Rs 94,969.01 per kl in the national capital, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers. The reduction follows a marginal 0.7 per cent (Rs 749.25 per kl) increase on May 1.
The ATF rate in Mumbai was slashed to Rs 88,834.27 per kl from Rs 95,173.70.
Prices differ from state to state depending on the incidence of local taxes.
