Jammu, June 23: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that the founder of Bharatiya Jan Sangh Dr. Shayma Parshad Mookherjee was illegally arrested and murdered in Srinagar jail.
Paying tributes to the founder of Bharatiya Jan Sangh (BJS), Dr Shayma Prassad Mookherjee on his death anniversary, Shah said that Dr. Mukherjee was illegally arrested in 1953 for entering into J&K without a permit.
Amit Shah was addressing a rally at Jammu.
Dr. Mookerjee, founder of the Jana Sangh, and the forerunner of the BJP passed away in a prison cell in Jammu and Kashmir after he was detained for forcibly entering the state, defying the then law making it mandatory for an Indian to furnish a permit to enter Kashmir.
More than five decades after its founder Shyama Prasad Mookerjee gave the clarion call for not allowing two Constitutions, two Prime Ministers and two flags in one nation, in reference to Jammu and Kashmir, the Bharatiya Janata Party has ticked that box.

Jammu, June 23: Taking a jibe at the Patna unity meet of the opposition parties, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said they (opposition) cannot defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the Bhartiya Janata Party will win 300 plus seats in 2024 Lok Sabha poll to form the government.
“A photo session is going on today in Patna,” Shah took a jibe addressing a public rally organised on the occasion of ‘Balidan Diwas’ of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee here.
Shah is on two-day visit of Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu, June 23: Union Minister Amit Shah on Friday offered prayers at Tirupati Balaji temple in Jammu district with Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.
The temple located in Majeen area of Jammu district was inaugurated virtually by Amit Shah on June 8. It has been built on 62 acres of land at an estimated cost of ₹ 25 crore.

Srinagar, June 23: Security forces foiled an infiltration bid and shot dead four unidentified terrorists close to the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said on Friday.
