Picnic or party meeting? NC hosts combo to discuss public woes | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 28: Even as the National Conference claims that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are suffering due to delay in holding of Assembly elections, the party is holding “picnic style” meetings to discuss the public woes.
On June 27, the NC held one such meeting on streamside in South Kashmir’s Daksum , a picnic spot, and the party openly accepted the change and attributed it to the vision of NC Vice President Omar Abdullah.
“Breaking away from the monotony of on-site meetings, JKNC VP Omar Abdullah chaired yet another off-site meeting with the party's South Zone functionaries at picturesque Daksum in South Kashmir. The meeting was marked by indepth discussions organisational and various public issues,” the party said.
At the meeting held at the picnic spot, the NC had raised a tent to host the guests who apart from Omar included senior party leaders including Sakina Itoo, Nasir Aslam Wani, Altaf Kaloo and Tanvir Sadiq.

Illegal Bangladeshis, new challenge for intelligence agencies in Kashmir | | |

Jammu, June 28: The arrest of three Bangladeshis for their involvement in stealing ATMs from different parts of Kashmir Valley has posed a new challenge for security and intelligence agencies in the Union Territory.
Three Bangladeshi nationals namely Suman Mal of Rajapur Bangladesh, Farooq Ahmed Ali of Rajwair Bangladesh, and Mohammad Ibrahim of Bangla Sharun Khola Bangladesh were arrested for stealing an ATM in Pulwama district.
The ATM was dumped in an orchard area, and the police used a bulldozer to retrieve the automated teller machine from a pit.

SRINAGAR, June 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT) Administration has completed all necessary arrangements for the annual Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to commence on July 1, said the officials on Wednesday.
They further stated that the Nunwan Base Camp, along with other logistical support, has been equipped with Langar stalls and medical services to cater to the needs of the pilgrims.
The Anantnag district administration has also ensured that facilities have been put in place such as medical care, sanitation, and more, with staff members stationed at various locations prior to the commencement of the yatra, as per officials.

New Delhi, June 28: Senior IPS officer Ajay Bhatnagar has been appointed Special Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), according to a Personnel Ministry order.
Bhatnagar, a 1989 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Jharkhand cadre, is currently Additional Director in the federal probe agency.
He has been appointed to the post till the date of his superannuation on November 20, 2024, it said.
Anurag, Joint Director in the CBI, will now be Additional Director in the agency.
He has been appointed for a period till July 24, 2023, that is, completion of his seven-year tenure, the order said.

New Delhi, June 28: The online process for nominations and recommendations for the Padma Awards 2024 is under way and the last date is September 15.
Asking general public to send their nominations and recommendations for the awards, the Union Home Ministry said it will be received online only on the Rashtriya Puruskar Portal (https://awards.gov.in), according to an official release.
The Padma awards—Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri—are amongst the highest civilian awards of the country.
Instituted in 1954, these awards are announced on the occasion of the Republic Day every year.

New Delhi, June 28: India is looking at July 13 as a possible launch date for Chandrayaan-3 that entails landing a rover on the lunar surface.
A senior official said the Chandrayaan-3 mission would be launched on July 13 at 2:30 pm from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota.
However, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman S Somanath said while the date has not been finalised yet, the agency was looking at the earliest possible date between July 12 and 19.
