Jammu, June 2: Despite Exit Polls predicting National Conference winning all the three Lok Sabha seats in Kashmir, NC vice-president and former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah seems “unhappy” with the Exit Polls projections which give NDA more seats than the alliance had in 2019 elections.

Jammu, June 2: Higher-ups in the Education Department have started the process to reverify post-graduate degrees, teachers have acquired through distance education mode, from some fraudulent universities.
This decision was taken after the Education Department detected some fake degrees procured by some teachers to get promotions.
Highly placed sources said that after the declaration of summer vacations in government schools fall under the summer zones, the authorities have decided to utilize this opportunity to verify suspicious degrees.

Jammu, June 2: Two suspected narcotic smugglers were arrested along with over two kg heroin worth over Rs 10 crore in the international market from Jammu and Kashmir’s border district of Rajouri, officials on Sunday said.
Sajad Hussain of Thandi Kasi village and Fateh Mohd of Chitti Bakri were arrested with the contraband substance from Parran village in Chingus sector by a joint team of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday evening, they said.

Two loco pilots were injured Sunday morning when a stationary freight train was hit from behind by another at the Sirhind railway station here, a Government Railway Police official said.
He said the collision caused the engine of one of them to flip over to another track and hit a passenger train.
There was no loss of life but loco pilots Vikas Kumar and Himanshu Kumar were injured, the official said.

UDHAMPUR, June 2: A forest fire erupted in Gangera Hill in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, said officials.
Upon receiving the information, forest department personnel swung into action to contain the fire.
“The fire erupted in the morning. Upon receiving the information we reached the spot and started dousing the fire. It is still going on,” Bharam Dutt Sharma, block forest officer in Udhampur said.
According to the preliminary estimate of the forest officials, the fire has caused immense damage, razing down vast swathes of forest and causing an estimated loss of crores of rupees in timber and other natural resources.
