Jammu, June 4: First time in the electoral history of Jammu and Kashmir two former chief ministers lost Lok Sabha elections with huge margins.
While the jailed leader Abdul Rashid alias Engineer Rashid emerged as a giant killer by defeating former chief minister and National Conference candidate Omar Abdullah by a huge margin of 204142, veteran Gujjar leader Mian Altaf defeated Peoples’ Democratic Party chief Mehooba Mufti by a huge margin of 2,81,794 votes which is highest victory margin in Jammu and Kashmir.
On two Lok Sabha seats of Jammu province, Jugal Kishore Sharma of BJP scripted a new chapter by making a hat-trick on the Jammu-Reasi Lok Sabha seat.
Jugal Kishore Sharma is the first leader who won the Jammu Parliamentary seat in three successive elections. Sharma defeated Congress candidate Raman Bhalla by a margin of 1,35,498 votes.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh won elections on the Udhampur-Doda seat on three successive terms but veteran leader Dr. Karan Singh had earlier won three successive elections on this seat.

Jammu, June 4: In a significant political shift, Independent candidate Mohammad Haneefa Jan has won the Ladakh Lok Sabha seat, defeating both the Congress and BJP candidates. This marks a major upset for the BJP, which had held the seat in the previous two elections.
Haneefa Jan, a rebel leader from the National Conference (NC), secured 64,443 votes, significantly outpacing his nearest rival, Congress candidate Tsering Namgyal, who garnered 35,770 votes. NEW DELHI, June 4:
The results for the medical entrance exam NEET-UG have been announced, the National Testing Agency (NTA) said on Tuesday.
“The results are live, candidates can check through website. The details of top scorers and qualifying candidates will be available shortly,” a senior NTA official said. This year, a record 23 lakh candidates registered for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG), of whom over 10 lakh were male students, over 13 lakh were female and 24 under the third gender category.

Srinagar, June 4: Amid forecast for partly to generally cloudy weather with intermittent light to moderate rain at a few places during next few days, night temperature recorded an increase at most places in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
A meteorological department official said till June 7, weather is likely to be partly to generally cloudy with intermittent light to moderate rain/thunder at many places. There is possibility of gusty winds at a few places also, he said. “Few places may receive moderate intensity showers for a brief period,” he said.
The weather department has also urged farmers to suspend farm operations during June 5 and 6.
