Jammu, June 8: The administration of Government Medical College Hospital Jammu has been unable to develop infrastructure despite liberal funding by the government.
Sources told Early Times that the government had sanctioned Rs 17 crore for the renovation of different blocks within the GMC Jammu. “The first installment of Rs 5crore was also released. The GMC had to renovate the administration block, enhance the bed capacity in the wards and get other works done to ensure that patients don’t suffer but till date nothing much has been done as a result second and third installments haven’t have been released,” they added.
Sources said that in addition to Rs 17 crore, the government had sanctioned Rs 16 crore to renovate Chopra Nursing Home.
“As first installment Rs 5 crore were released to take up the works within the nursing home. Had this facility been renovated it would have helped in accommodating the patient rush during the pandemic,” sources added.

Jammu, June 8: Annoyed over posts given to junior most officers in Kashmir province, the State Forest Service (SFS) and Indian Forest Services (IFS) officers have urged Raj Bhavan to order a probe into the matter.
Sources informed Early Times that in Kashmir province several Range Officers are holding the post of Division Forest Officer (DFOs) in some districts, while many senior officers SFS and IFS have been given insignificant posts.

Jammu, June 8: NITI Aayog’s latest index of States and Union Territories (UTs) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has revealed that the unemployment rate has increased in Jammu and Kashmir during the last year.
As per NITI Aayog’s, index unemployment rate was 5.4 percent in the year 2019 which has increased to 5.6 percent.
Although there is a slight increase in the unemployment rate, it reflects those policies adopted by the government after bi-furcating the erstwhile state of J&K into two Union Territories (UTs) have not yet given desirable results.

Jammu, June 8: The elite National Investigation Agency or NIA is likely to probe the killing of the Bharatiya Janta Party leader and municipal councilor Tral, Rakesh Pandith by taking over the investigations from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, which have registered a case.
Highly placed sources said the Union Home Ministry in New Delhi held a high level meetings to discuss the killing of the BJP leader, in Tral area of south Kashmir on June 2.
The sources said the larger consensus at the meeting was that the probe into the killing be done by the NIA. It was reliably learnt that the family of the slain leader including his son have also sought a probe by the NIA.

Srinagar, June 8: On March 23 when experts warned of a second Covid-19 wave, the authorities asked people to visit Tulip Garden at Srinagar.
On March 25 when the Tulip Garden was thrown open, Kashmir registered 131 cases and the active cases at that time were around 1200. After a week, there was a sudden rise in COVID cases when 600 positive cases were recorded daily. Experts also rang alarm bells, but the administration paid no heed.
