‘Fear-stricken’ Hurriyat distances itself from Srinagar meeting | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 10: Within hours after Srinagar Police detained over 40 persons for attempting to revive defunct separatist groups and banned Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), the fear-stricken Hurriyat Conference distanced itself from the Srinagar meeting to revive separatism and terrorism.
The Hurriyat, in a statement on Monday, said: “It wants to make it clear that those who attended this lunch, went in their individual capacity, and not as members of Hurriyat.”
“It was not any Hurriyat event nor was Hurriyat leadership aware of it. In fact, it is through the media that Hurriyat came to know about it. So to attribute motives to Hurriyat in this regard is mere speculation and totally baseless,” a statement by the Hurriyat, led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, reads.
As reported earlier police arrested 43 separatist leaders including some ex-terrorists who were attempting to revive agitational terrorism in Kashmir Valley.

Jammu, July 10: Even as the Srinagar Municipal Corporation or SMC has decided to levy 2 paisa per unit tax on consumption of electricity in the summer capital, the Jammu Municipal Corporation or JMC is all set to follow the footprints.

Jammu, July 10: The Amarnath Yatra remained suspended from Jammu for the third consecutive day on Monday due to extensive damage caused to a section of the Jammu-Srinagar Highway in Ramban, officials said. More than 6,000 pilgrims are stranded in Jammu, particularly at the Bhagwatinagar base camp while over 5,000 are stranded at the Chanderkot base camp in Ramban district.
