JAMMU, July 13: The Jammu & Kashmir government seems to be least bothered about the preservation of green gold in the union territory and same gets reflected every now and then by the steps taking by the people at helm.
Early Times has learnt from sources that in the 14 forest divisions in Kashmir not a single Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer has been posted as Divisional Forest Officer (DFO).
These forest divisions are being looked after by the local officers and given the local influence these officers are not able to discharge their duties in professional manner.

SRINAGAR, July 13: The death toll due to the Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 187 as eight more persons died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. In the meantime, 314 new cases of COVID-19 came to the fore from different districts of the union territory today. Reports said that while two deaths each were reported from Srinagar, Baramulla and Pulwama districts, one death each was reported from Budgam and Kupwara districts. Srinagar, July 13: For the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, no official function was held to commemorate Martyrs'' Day observed on July 13 every year in memory of those killed in firing by soldiers of Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh in 1931.
In a break from past, there was no function at the Martyrs’ graveyard here after the government dropped July 13 from the list of gazetted holidays last year, officials said.
The holidays on July 13 as well as on December 5 - the birth anniversary of National Conference founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah - were dropped after the abrogation of Article 370 by the Centre on August 5 last year.
