Amit Shah stresses on need to provide employment opportunities in border areas

NEW DELHI, July 13: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday stressed the need to provide employment opportunities to residents of border villages and increase connectivity to prevent migration from such remote areas. Reviewing the implementation of the “Vibrant Villages Programme” (VVP) at a high-level meeting here, Shah directed all concerned to continue the efforts being made by senior ministers and officials to better understand the issues of border villages under the special initiative taken by the central government. During the meeting, the home minister said the Narendra Modi Government is committed to the all-round development of the border villages. He stressed on the need to provide employment opportunities to local residents and increase connectivity with villages to prevent migration from these border villages, according to an official statement. Shah said central armed police forces and Army deployed around the border villages should encourage purchase of local agricultural and handicraft products through cooperatives. Early Times Report JAMMU, July 13: Two persons were killed and 25 injured when a bus skidded off the road and plunged into a 200-feet-deep gorge in hilly Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, officials said. The accident took place near Bhatyas at around 10.25 am when the private mini bus was on its way to Thathri from Bhalessa, the officials said. They said one woman was found dead by the rescuers on the spot, while another succumbed to her injuries at a hospital. Early Times Report JAMMU, July 13: A fresh batch of 4,669 pilgrims, including 96 sadhus and two sadhvis, left Jammu city to join the pilgrimage to the cave shrine of Amarnath in the south Kashmir Himalayas early Saturday, officials said. They will leave for the shrine, at a height of 3,880 metre, after reaching the two base camps of the yatra — Baltal and Pahalgam.
