First-time in J&K history, political party collapses without contesting polls | | |

Jammu, July 17: The merger of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples’ Movement (JKPM) with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has scripted a new chapter in political history as it was the first political party that was formed and finished without contesting any election.
With much fanfare and publicity, the JKPM was launched on March 17, 2019, by IAS officer Shah Faesal with a promise of an “end to a corrupt system and work towards a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir issue.”
Hundreds of his supporters thronged the launch venue in Srinagar’s Rajbagh chanting the party slogan: ‘ Ab Hawah Badlegi’ (Now winds will change directions).
Shah Faesal was joined by former minister Javed Mustafa Mir and JNU leader Sheila Rashid.
A year after the abrogation of Article 370 and the bifurcation erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories (UTs) Shah Faesal stepped down as the President of JKPM on August 11, 2020.

Srinagar, July 15: A team of highly skilled cyber experts working in the national capital will probe the video, which the interntaional terror outfit “Islamic State” claims to have filmed and released of the attack on the Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel in Lal Bazar locality here on July 12.
Sources said the central government has asked a team of cyber experts to probe in coordination with the JKP the claims about the video that if it was shot by the terrorists associated with the international terror outfit.

Jammu, July 15: Notwithstanding opposition from China, Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama reaches Ladakh on Friday afternoon for over a month-long stay in the mountainous region.
The exiled Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader was accorded a rousing reception after reaching Leh. Dalai Lama reached Jammu on Thursday from where he reached Leh on a direct flight.

Srinagar, July 15: In a major success, five youths were prevented by Srinagar Police from joining militant ranks, police said on Friday.
They said on July 8, Police Station Kralkhud in Srinagar received an information through a reliable source that a group of alleged miscreants- which had known history of being linked with The Resistance Front, the shadow group of Lashkar-e-Taiba- had gathered at Babademb Naqashpora ground and were convening a meeting.
Police said the group included Bilal Ahmad Malla of Harden Lolab, Haseeb Farooq of Prichoo Pulwama, Shah Fahad Shabir of Tangpona Pulwama and Reyaz Ahmad Mughal of Reshiwari Aawoora Kupwara.
