Group within NC opposes leaving any Lok Sabha seat for PDP | | |

Jammu, July 15: Despite attending the first meeting of the opposition parties at Patna, leaderships of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and National Conference are yet to finalize seat-sharing arrangement for the coming Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Highly placed sources said that the National Conference president and former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah, who is the convenor of the Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) is ready to ally with arch-rival PDP in the coming Lok Sabha elections to take on BJP but a faction within the NC is not ready to leave any Lok Sabha seat for the PDP.
Highly placed sources said that the faction which is opposing leaving any Lok Sabha seat for the PDP, and suggested that instead of contesting Parliamentary elections the PDP leadership should support the opposition candidates on all the five Lok Sabha seats of Jammu and Kashmir.

Srinagar, July 15: The Bharatiya Janta Party has intensified its preparedness for the upcoming Urban Local Body polls expected in the coming months, with the top leadership holding a high level meeting.
Sources said the BJP’s National General Secretary Incharge Jammu and Kashmir, Tarun Chugh and General Secretary, Ashok Koul held a meeting in Srinagar to review the preparedness even as the leadership was told that they are ready.
Sources said in the meeting that lasted around two hours, the party cadres were told that they don’t need to be prepared for the ULB polls alone but also for the “bigger polls.”

SRINAGAR, July 15: Five Amarnath pilgrims died in the past 36 hours, taking the death toll during this year’s yatra in the south Kashmir Himalayas to 24, officials said on Friday.
The five victims who died in since Thursday morning included a sadhu, they said.
Most of the pilgrims died of cardiac arrest, the officials added.
While four people died on the Pahalgam axis of the yatra, one death occurred on the Baltal route, they said.
The pilgrims belonged to Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat. One victim is yet to be identified.

Srinagar, July: Jammu and Kashmir's Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday asserted that no land was being provided to any non-local under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme.
Sinha said that some people were misleading the people by claiming that land is being given to outsiders.
Addressing a function in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, the LG said some people unfortunately were misleading people by claiming that land is being given to outsiders.
