Jammu, July 17: Ongoing allegations and counter-allegations between BJP president Ravinder Raina and former MLC Surinder Choudhary took an interesting twist today when the latter served a legal notice to the former.
Ravinder Raina served a legal notice to Surinder Choudhary through his advocate Adv. Navyug Sethi and warned to file a defamation suit worth Rs 5 crore.
Observing that all allegations levelled by Surinder Choudhary against Ravinder Raina were false and fabricated, the former MLC was asked to tender an unconditional apology.
“You are, therefore, called upon by way of this notice to immediately issue an unconditional and unqualified apology for your acts and omissions, falling which my client shall be constrained to invoke his rights to claim damages to the tune of Rs. 5 Crores and I have instructions to proceed, in the competent court of law against you at your pure risk, responsibility, and costs. This is however in addition to the remedies under criminal law available to my client”, the notice reads.

Jammu, July 17: Sacked along with a police constable and officer of the Revenue Department, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Kashmir University was rewarded a government job by the former NC-Congress regime in the year 2008 for pursuing anti-national agenda.
The Union Territory administration terminated the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the University of Kashmir, Faheem Aslam, Revenue Department officer, Murawath Hussain Mir, and Police Constable Arshid Ahmad Thoker from the service.

New Delhi, July 17: More than 1.40 lakh kg drugs worth Rs 2,381 crore were destroyed in various parts of the country on Monday in the virtual presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, officials said.
The destruction of the narcotics, the bulk of it from Madhya Pradesh, was carried out in different cities as Shah watched through video-conferencing from New Delhi while attending a conference on 'Drugs Smuggling and National Security'.
The drugs destroyed include 6,590 kg seized by the Narcotics Control Bureau's (NCB) Hyderabad unit, 822 kg seized by the Indore unit and 356 kg by the Jammu unit, the officials said.

Srinagar, July 17: Three more Amarnath pilgrims have died, taking the total death count during this year's pilgrimage in the south Kashmir Himalayas to 30, officials said today.
The three pilgrims who died since Sunday morning belonged to Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Two of the pilgrims died of cardiac arrest, while the cause of the death of the third was being ascertained, the officials added.
While two people died on the Pahalgam route of the yatra, one death occurred on the Baltal route, they said.
These three deaths have taken the total death count during the yatra so far this year to 30.
