Amid BJP, Cong show of strength Azad, Bukhari, Sajjad remain ‘neutral’ | | |

Jammu, July 18: While BJP and Congress are involved in a show of strength ahead of the coming Lok Sabha elections, three local parties of Jammu and Kashmir preferred to remain neutral during the exercise.
Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) of Ghulam Nabi Azad, the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party of Altaf Bukhari, and the People’s Conference of Sajjad Gani Lone have maintained a distance from the ongoing efforts of two national parties to lure more and more political parties in their respective group.
Two regional political parties of Jammu and Kashmir namely the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) are actively participating in the opposition’s unity efforts.
Although Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference was an alliance partner of the BJP during the PDP-BJP regime, the party leadership has decided not to become part of any amalgam at the national level.

Jammu, July 18: During the last six months nearly four tons of narcotics have been recovered in Jammu and Kashmir as authorities have launched an aggressive campaign against narco-terrorism.
During the 6th UT Level NCORD meeting Special DGP Crime AK Chaudhary shared the recovery of narcotics this year.
While giving details of the performance registered by the Department in rooting out this menace the Special DGP, Crime, gave out that a total of 1850 cases were registered in 2022 arresting 2756 involved persons and registration of 1410 cases till June this year thereby arresting 2068 persons named in the FIRs.

Jammu, July 18: Taking serious note of the Shopian terror attack in which three migrant workers from Bihar were injured, Jammu and Kashmir Police attached Shopian Station House Officer (SHO) Ghulam Jeelani Bhat to Range Police Headquarter (RPHQ) Anantnag, pending an inquiry.
The Shopian incident was third terror attack on members of the minority community during this year.

Srinagar, July 18: Jammu and Kashmir Police’s State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Tuesday carried out searches in several locations in south Kashmir in the ongoing investigation into the killing of Kashmiri Pandit earlier this year, officials said.
Kashmiri Pandit Sanjay Sharma, who worked as an ATM guard, was shot dead by suspected militants in the Achan area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on February 26.
The case of Sharma’s killing was initially investigated by the Pulwama Police, and subsequently it was transferred to the SIA Kashmir.
Officials said the raids began early in the morning in the south Kashmir districts of Shopian, Kulgam, and Anantnag.

Poonch/Jammu, July 18: Four heavily-armed foreign terrorists were killed in a fierce gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Tuesday, the Army said, asserting that the successful operation scuttled possible terror strikes in the region.
The killing of four terrorists comes a day after security forces foiled a major infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Krishna Ghati Sector of Poonch on the intervening night of July 16 and 17.
Earlier in the day, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu zone, Mukesh Singh confirmed the killing of four terrorists in the Sindarah top area of Surankote.
