Centre may go ahead with separate townships for KPs | Tables subtly turning around in Kashmir | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 1: The central government is all set to initiate a massive rehabilitation programme for the Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) with high possibilities of establishing separate townships for the aggrieved community.
Speaking in Rajya Sabha on Monday, Union Home Minister and BJP president Amit Shah gave a clear indication that in order to keep Kashmiriat alive and intact, it is imperative for the government to rehabilitate the KPs in the Kashmir Valley.
There are also speculations that the government is mulling to establish separate townships for them, a measure that was widely ridiculed in the past by the separatists. However, as the anti-national elements in Kashmir Valley have been to a large extent silenced in Kashmir valley, chances are high that the much-awaited project may see the day's light.

Jammu, July 1: Around 50 people have died in two road accidents within a week in Jammu province.
The death toll continued to mount in a minibus accident in Keshwan area of Kishtwar district on Monday with over three dozen people dead.
The mishap occurred when the driver lost control over bus (JK17-6787) and plunged into deep gorge on the bank of Chenab river.
The ill fated bus was overloaded and met with the accident at around 8 AM when it was on the way to Kishtwar from Keshwan.
Earlier on June 27, at least eleven persons, including nine girls, died in a major road accident in Peer Ki Gali area on the historic Mughal road in south Kashmir's Shopian district.

Reliable sources told Early Times that the Housing Board has allotted the construction of court complex in Kulgam to a contractor without adopting the due procedure. The estimated cost of the project is around 25 Cr Rupees, they said.

Srinagar, July 1: The seizure of heroine worth Rs 2700 crore near Amritsar seems just a tip of the iceberg.
On Sunday, the Customs Department seized 532 kg of suspected heroin worth Rs 2,700 crore, which was smuggled into India from Pakistan in a truck through trade route at the Attari border. A Kashmiri is behind this crime.
However, the official figures reveal that, trade of drugs is rampant in the state especially in Kashmir.
