Amid politicking, NC leader says won’t contest assembly polls | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 1: Even as politicking has been gaining momentum in Jammu and Kashmir, a senior leader of the National Conference, Aga Ruhulla has said that he won’t be contesting the Assembly elections till the issue of August 5, 2019 decision is resolved as per his aspirations.
The senior leader has made this announcement on the social media website Twitter while interacting with a group of people especially politicians.
The NC leader said that it was his personal decision and that it doesn’t meant that he was separating from the party but that he would stay away from the polls only.
Sources said the leader took the decision of his own and he has “not been on the same page” as his party leadership over the issues of participation in the Assembly polls.
Observers said the NC leader has been “most vocal” in his party against the abrogation of the so called special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5.
Sources said the NC, however has refrained from questioning Ruhulla over his individual decision of not contesting the polls.

J&K elections: BJP to devise strategy in its national executive committee meet | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 1: BJP will devise a strategy for conducting assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in its two-day national executive committee meeting to be held on July 2 and 3 at Hyderabad.
Highly placed sources said that J&K BJP leaders have been asked by the high command to prepare a detailed report about the planning of the party to fight the assembly elections.
“Final decision regarding the time and schedule of the assembly elections in J&K will be taken only after the high command seek a report from the J&K unit”, sources said and added that some BJP leaders of J&K will present the report before the national executive committee meeting.

New Delhi, July 1: The Indian Army and Navy began their recruitment processes under the Agnipath scheme on Friday, the defence ministry stated.
The Indian Air Force had on June 24 started its recruitment process under the scheme and it received 2.72 lakh applications till Thursday, the ministry said.
Violent protests against the scheme had rocked several states for nearly a week after it was unveiled on June 14 and opposition parties demanded its rollback.

Srinagar, July 1 : Health and Medical Education Department on Friday issued a final show cause notice to 16 doctors for their unauthorized absence from duties.

Banihal, June 1: Pilgrims and tourists have been barred from crossing over to Kashmir from Banihal area of Ramban district after 3.30 pm, the cut-off time, due to security concerns, an officer said on Friday.
