Jammu, July 17: The senior IAS officer who has been in the news for returning around Rs 40 lakhs, which he had allegedly acquired illegally from a semi-government organisation, is likely to be shifted outside the J&K UT.
Sources told Early Times that Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu has taken a strong note of the case and has made it clear that any breach of proprietary laws by the bureaucrats won’t be tolerated.
They said that apart from the recovery initiated against him and a probe by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the officer is likely to be shifted before August 15, 2020.
“The Raj Bhawan came to know about the huge wealth amassed by the officer through touts”, sources said, adding that he has partnership with the local businessmen in his real-estate business. “The bureaucrat has been investing ill-gotten money in various projects in Jammu city and other businesses. A close relative of this IAS officer along with his partner are managing the businesses here,” they said.

SRINAGAR, July 19: There seems to be no let up in the Corona Virus cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir as 701 fresh cases of the virus were reported today. The death toll due to COVID-19 reached 244 as eight more people died in the past 24 hours.
Reports said that two deaths each were reported from Srinagar and Baramulla districts with Shopian, Pulwama, Budgam and Rajouri districts reporting one death each. So far 225 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir while as the number of such deaths in Jammu are 19. Srinagar has the highest number of casualties with the figure being 61.

Jammu, July 19: Jammu district authorities on Sunday announced a complete weekend lockdown beginning from July 24 to prevent the spread of coronavirus cases that had witnessed a spike over the past week, officials said. Jammu District Magistrate Sushma Chauhan ordered the lockdown from 6pm on all Fridays till 6 am on all Mondays beginning from the Friday falling on July 24.
“There shall be complete restriction on movement of individuals, vehicles and all activities within the entire jurisdiction of district Jammu, except the movement for emergency medical requirements for which no pass is required,” Chauhan said in an order issued here on Sunday night.
