PM lauds health workers as India crosses 200-cr vaccine mark | Says coming generations will be proud of India's fight against Covid | | Agencies
New Delhi, July 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a letter to all vaccinators lauding their efforts as India crossed the COVID-19 vaccination milestone of administering 200 crore doses to its citizens.
According to official sources, Modi asserted that the coming generations will be proud of India's achievement in fulfilling its resolve at a time of crisis following the pandemic outbreak.
Vaccinators, healthcare workers and support staff, and frontline workers have played a crucial role in protecting the people of the country, he wrote.
"Saving lives is crucial, especially during a once-in-a-century global pandemic. Our vaccinators, healthcare workers and support staff, and frontline workers have played a critical role in protecting Indians," the prime minister wrote in the letter.
He said this is a laudable example of dedication to duty and delivering when it is most necessary.

Amarnath Yatra: 9500 pilgrims proceed towards cave shrine | | |

Srinagar, July 20: Fresh batch of more than 9,500 yatries proceeded from the twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath to pay obeisance there on Wednesday, officials said.
They said 4,279 pilgrims paid obeisance at the cave shrine till 11 AM on Wednesday taking the total number of yatries who had paid obeisance at the Amarnath Cave shrine to 2, 25, 000 so far since the Yatra commenced on June 30.
Fresh batches of yatries were allowed to proceed from the traditional Nunwan Pahalgam base camp in south Kashmir and shortest Baltal via Dumail in Ganderbal district on Wednesday amid dry and clear weather conditions.

Srinagar, July 20: National Investigation Agency on Wednesday carried out multiple raids in Kashmir with regards the probe involving recovery of 15 pistols in Srinagar in May this year, official sources said.
They said NIA investigators along with J&K police and CRPF personnel carried out these raids at several places in Srinagar and Pulwama districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
There has been no official word about the raids from the NIA so far.

Jammu, July 20: In view of rising cases of Covid positive, the Jammu district administration on Wednesday made use of face mask compulsory at all public places.
In an order issued here by the Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Avny Lavasa in capacity of Chairperson District Disaster Management Authority ordered that use of face masks shall be compulsory at all public places in Jammu district with immediate effect till further orders.
"All district, sectoral officers will ensure usage of face masks by all officers in the office," read an order further directing school managements, shopping malls, cinema theatres and other complexes to adhere to the directives.
