Jammu, July 24: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said India is well-equipped to give a befitting reply to “anyone who casts an evil eye on us” and expressed confidence that the country will emerge victorious in case of any war.
Pitching for reclaiming Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Singh said it is a part of India and will continue to remain part of this country.
“I want to tell you with confidence that if any foreign powers cast an evil eye on us and if there is a war, we will become victorious,” Singh said during an event organised to commemorate ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ here.

Jammu, July 24: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday announced the setting up of joint theatre commands of the tri-services to enhance coordination among the armed forces.
The defence minister also said India is moving quickly from being the world’s largest importer of defence equipment to an exporter.
He was speaking during a programme organised by the Jammu Kashmir People’s Forum here to pay tributes to the martyrs of the Indian Armed Forces.

Jammu, July 24: In a major development that can “influence” the electoral process in Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has received a petition seeking “de-freezing” of eight of the 24 Assembly seats reserved for the Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir or POJK.
Top sources said the refugees from the POJK have written to Home Minister, Amit Shah seeking “de-freezing” of eight seats in the J&K assembly meant to be allotted to districts in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Pakistan continues to illegally occupy 24 areas like Muzaffarabad while their seats in the JK Assembly remain vacant.

Jammu, July 24: At least four persons of a marriage party were killed and as many injured when an SUV ferrying them plunged into a nullah near Ramsoo in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.
Police said that the vehicle with eight passengers, carrying a marriage party, this afternoon was on way from Neel to Shagan when it skidded off the road and fell into a nullah in Ramsoo area.
Police added that two persons died on the spot and six others were shifted to Anantnag hospital where two more succumbed to their injuries, taking toll to four.

The Union Home Ministry said the ceremony will be held at the central hall of Parliament at 10.15 AM on Monday where Chief Justice of India N V Ramana will administer the oath of the office of the President to her.

New Delhi, July 24: The Centre on Sunday held a high-level review meeting after a 34-year-old man from the national capital with no history of foreign travel tested positive for the monkeypox virus, making it the fourth case of the disease reported in India.
