SRINAGAR, July 26: The Jammu & Kashmir Bank may lose out to a private bank when it comes to opening of salary accounts of the employees working in the different government departments in the state.
A government department has already started the process and one can expect that the other government departments would follow suit. This is despite the fact that Jammu & Kashmir Bank is the government banker and the government employees are operating the accounts in the various branches of the bank.
Irony is that a Commissioner Secretary level officer has written to the Director of a government department asking to facilitate the operation of the private bank in his particular department. A full-fledged communication has been sent in this regard and the Director concerned is not expected to turn down the favour.
