Jammu, July 28: Over two months after reposing faith in the democratic institutions of the country, the radical Jamaat-e-Islami is planning to join electoral politics in the coming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
It was only during the infamous 1987 Assembly elections, that the Jamaat-e-Islami had participated in the electoral battle in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir..
Reports said that Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir plans to re-enter electoral politics. Jamaat leaders are awaiting the lifting of the ban imposed under the UAPA since February 2019, with several rounds of talks reportedly held with the government.

Jammu, July 28: Environment experts in Jammu and Kashmir are worried as Srinagar, the summer capital of the Union Territory, recorded the 6th highest maximum temperature ever in the month of July since 1893 when the weather observatory was established.

JAMMU, July 28: Amid heavy rains, a fresh batch of 1,677 pilgrims left a Jammu base camp for the Amarnath shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas in the early hours of Sunday amid tight security arrangements, officials said.
The 31th batch of pilgrims, which also included over 1,300 men, 200 women. It also included two children and 104 sadhus and sadhvis who left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp at 3.35 am in a convoy of 67 vehicles escorted by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), they said.
