J&K emerging as smuggling hub of India | | |

Jammu, July 2: After the recovery of 16 kilograms of heroin in the Gurdaspur district, a senior officer of Punjab Police disclosed that J&K has emerged as a new origin of smuggling narcotics in different parts of the country.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Border Range of Punjab Police said that following strict vigil at Indo-Pak Border in the state, Jammu, and Kashmir has emerged as a new origin for transit of drugs through Punjab.
“The investigations into the 16kg heroin recovery from Gurdaspur revealed that arrested accused persons have used National Highway (connecting Jammu to Punjab) to bring this consignment from neighbouring state Jammu by concealing it in specially designed compartments in two Toyota Innova Crysta cars,” he said.
Notably, Gurdaspur district Police had arrested four suspects after recovering 16.80Kg heroin (packed in 16 packets) after intercepting two Innova Crysta cars coming from Jammu side. Alleged fraud in SI test: 15 days on, 90000 youth await probe report | | |

Jammu, July 2: As the 15-day time frame for conducting an inquiry into alleged fraud in written exams of the J&K Police Sub-Inspector has lapsed, 90,000 candidates are anxiously waiting for the submission of the report.
Conflicting reports are emanating from different quarters regarding fraud in the examinations but no official statement has been given in this regard.
Authorities are tightlipped over the probe conducted by a three-member panel because the committee has yet to submit its report to the higher-ups.

Jammu, July 2: The fourth batch of 6,113 pilgrims on Saturday left for the Amarnath cave shrine in a fleet of 228 vehicles from the Yatri Niwas base camp here amid tight security.
An official said the pilgrims, including 25 children and 193 sadhus, left 120 buses and 108 light motor vehicles for the annual pilgrimage from the Pahalgam and Baltal routes.
Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha had on June 29 flagged off the first batch of pilgrims. The pilgrimage remained suspended for two years due to Covi-19.
