Jammu, July 5: Even as the BJP has retained two Lok Sabha seats of Jammu province, the newly appointed election incharge of J&K G Kishan Reddy is not satisfied with the preparations of the party for the coming Assembly elections in the Union Territory.
Highly placed sources said that during the meeting of the state office bearers, the Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, who was recently appointed incharge of the much-awaited maiden Assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, sought reports from office bearers about preparations for the party.

Jammu, July 5: Ahead of the assembly elections, the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bhartiya Janata Party will be seeing a major reshuffle in the cadre including the party president.
“The preparations for the assembly elections, which are yet to be officially announced, are in full swing for which the party level deliberations are being held with the high command,” party sources said.
They said that a reshuffle in the BJP organisation is also on cards including an appointment of new J&K head.

New Delhi, July 5: Bharatiya Janata Party National President, JP Nadda, on Friday appointed State Incharge and Co-Incharge for various states across the country.
The party has appointed General Secretary Vinod Tawde as in-charge of Bihar and MP Deepak Prakash as co-in-charge. Nitin Nabin has been appointed in charge of Chhattisgarh, Ashish Sood of Goa and Ajeet Gopchade of Manipur.
The states where elections will take place in coming times–Satish Poonia will oversee the work in Haryana, while Surendra Singh Nagar will be his co-incharge.
Tarun Chugh has been appointed in-charge of two UTs–Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir. Ashish Sood will be in charge in J-K.

JAMMU, July 5: The Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court has granted bail to a policeman arrested for allegedly killing an “innocent” man and dubbing him a “terrorist” 18 years ago.
Justice Atul Sreedharan passed the order on July 3, saying, “This is a clear cut case of violation of Article 21 on account of delayed trial.”
The case was heard through videoconferencing.

NEW DELHI, July 5: India’s annual defence production has hit a record high of approximately Rs 1.27 lakh crore in 2023-24, with the Make in India programme crossing new milestones, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Friday.
The value of defence production in FY 2022-23 was Rs 1,08,684 crore, it added.

JAMMU, July 5: A fresh batch of 6,900 pilgrims left for the cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas on Friday, officials said.
The eight batch of pilgrims left the Bhagwati-Nagar Yatri Niwas in 277 vehicles for the twin base camps of Baltal and Palagam at 3.45 am and were escorted by CRPF security personnel, they said.
While 4,377 pilgrims took the 48-km traditional Pahalgam route, 2,542 pilgrims took the shorter but steep 14-km Baltal route, they said.
With this, a total of 44,441 pilgrims have left the Jammu base camp for the valley since June 28.
The number of pilgrims who have paid obeisance at the shrine till date stands at 1,33,000.

SRINAGAR, July 5: Two persons including a driver were missing when an oil tanker skidded off the road and fell into river Jhelum in Bandipora district, officials said on Friday.
They said one unknown oil tanker on way from Srinagar towards Sumbal skidded off the road near Wangipora checkpost during the night of Thursday and Friday and fell into river Jhelum after the driver lost control due to alleged rash driving and negligence.
