Second thought: Omar, Sajad join Mehbooba in ‘land for homeless’ chorus | | |

Jammu, July 6: A day after former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party, President Mehbooba Mufti accused the J&K administration of “bringing the people from outside under the garb of land for landless and home for the homeless to change the region’s demography”, her counterpart from the National Conference Omar Abdullah joined the chorus.
Whereas Omar Abdullah on July 6 questioned the Raj Bhawan over the issue, his reaction seems to be a “second thought” as Omar broke his silence on the issue only when the government has issued a clarification to Mehbooba’s statement.
“LG Manoj Sinha Govt should first clear who are Homeless, how they are categorizing them? Are counting those homeless as well who came here just a week ago? Government should also not include those in this category who came here after abrogation of Article370. Only those should be included who were settled here before 2019,” Omar told the media persons on July 6.

Pune, July 6: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has said the world has so far failed to find answers to several questions and now thinks India can provide their solutions.

SRINAGAR, July 6: With 17202 yatries paying obeisance at the Shri Amarnathji Holy Cave on Thursday, the cumulative total of pilgrims reached to 84768 on the 7th day of yatra.
Among the pilgrims who visited Holy Cave were 12408 males, 4095 females, 490 children, 192 Sadhus and 17 Sadvis.
The influx of yatries continue to surge with each passing day making it one of the most successful yatra in the country.
The entire yatra is being monitored from Integrated Command & Control Centre (ICCC) at HMT which has been put in use for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra since 2022.

SRINAGAR, July 6: Healthcare workers, including doctors and para-medical staff, are working round the clock at the 100-bedded specialty hospital at the Amarnath Yatra base camp here in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, ready to tackle any eventuality.
Last year, flash floods near the holy cave shrine had killed 15 people and injured many others.
The J-K administration has set up two specialty hospitals at the base camps of Baltal, in Sonamarg area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal, and Chandanwari, in Pahalgam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, the twins routes for the yatra.

NEW DELHI, July 6: In a joint operation with Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force has neutralized 27 terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir this year.
CRPF informed that the list includes include eight local terrorists and 19 foreign terrorists who have been neutralized in J-K till July 5 this year.
“In the year 2022, a total of 187 terrorists were neutralized by security forces in the valley including 130 local terrorists and 57 foreign terrorists,” the official statement read.
A senior officer informed that they have been a steep decline in foreign terrorist in the valley if they compare with past years.

New Delhi, July 6: The Supreme Court on Thursday deferred hearing on a plea seeking directions to the Election Commission and the government for holding early assembly polls in J&K.
A bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices P S Narasimha and Manoj Misra noted that petitions challenging the abrogation of Article 370 were listed for hearing on July 11. “We will adjourn this.The 370 matter is listed for directions on July 11,” the bench said.

SRINAGAR, July 6: Twelve people were ”bound down” for not standing up during the national anthem played at a function here in June with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in attendance, police said on Thursday.
Departmental action has also been initiated against the police music band for failing to ensure everyone stood up before the anthem was played, they said.
The 12 people were ”bound down” under the CrPC sections 107 and 151 — the sections grant police the power to arrest or detain a person or ask him or her to sign a bond in anticipation of a crime.

Bengaluru, July 6: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Thursday announced that its lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 will be launched on July 14 from the space port at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. ISRO Chairman Somanath S said attempt to soft-land the mission on Moon will be made on August 23 or August 24.
