Jammu, Aug 9: Even as thousands of government employees and daily wagers are complaining about nor getting their wages in time due to “paucity of funds,” bureaucrats in Jammu and Kashmir are “spending lavishly on the functions.”
From holding seminars to workshops to festivals, many of the government departments are spending “huge public money” on such activities including sporting events.
Sources said every such event costs millions including the money spend on food like Wazwan and boarding and lodging of the invitees.
“Event management companies are also making big money and some shady deals in the process cannot be ruled out,” said an official.

Jammu, Aug 9: Even as the National Investigation Agency has tightened noose around the banned Jamaat-e-Islami through fresh raids across the Union territory, at least four districts of Jammu have also come under scanner for such “fundraising.”
Sources said apart from districts in Kashmir like Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Anantnag, Shopian, Pulwama, Kulgam, the Jammu province areas are also on the radar.
It was reliably learnt that in the last two days, the NIA has conducted raids in Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, and Rajouri districts.

Anantnag, Aug 9: The Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district is allegedly adopting lackadaisical approach in implementing the of Prime Minister’s housing scheme meant for poor as it has failed to covey a BOCA meeting since last year to clear cases of PMAY beneficiaries.
