Jobs not for sale in J&K: Cancelation of SI list sends clear message to touts | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 8: After cancelling the list of over 7200 candidates who have cleared written examinations of Police Sub Inspectors (PSIs) following the detection of fraud, the Jammu and Kashmir Government made it clear that jobs are not for sale in the Union Territory.
Speaking on the employment opportunities across the Union Territory, Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, stated that “there was a wrong perception that there were no jobs in J&K”.
“Let me tell you that the J&K government has given the highest number of civilian jobs in its history last year. Jobs are there but they are not in the market for sale,” the Chief Secretary said.
The spokesman of the J&K government said that for the first time in history recruitments have been done on a merit basis, in a transparent manner which is a living example of how a corruption-free, transparent and just system contributes to the progress of the marginalized class and wherever wrongdoings were alleged, an investigation was launched by credible and top law enforcement agencies.

| | COVID-19: J&K records 626 new cases | | |

JAMMU, Aug 9: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 626 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, raising the tally in the Union territory to 4,70,827, officials said.
While 114 cases were reported from the Jammu division, 512 cases were reported from the Kashmir Valley, they said.
The death toll due to the disease stands at 4,776 as no fresh fatality was reported in the past 24 hours, the officials said.
There are 5,146 active cases in the Union territory, while the number of recoveries has reached 4,60,905, they said.... | |

JAMMU, Aug 9: Dry weather is likely to prevail in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours, said the Meteorological (MeT) department on Tuesday.
The weather was inclement in the union territory during the last 24 hours.
Jammu had 27, Katra 24.6, Batote 19.5, Banihal 19 and Bhaderwah 18.8 as the minimum temperature.
Srinagar had 20, Pahalgam 16 and Gulmarg 11 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

New Delhi, Aug 9: Cooperation Minister Amit Shah today announced that over 300 cooperatives have been onboarded as buyers on the GeM portal to help them purchase goods and services at competitive prices.
Amit Shah today virtually launched the process of onboarding cooperatives on the GeM portal.
In the first phase, all eligible cooperatives, having a turnover/deposits of Rs 100 crore, will be able to start placing orders on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal.
There are more than 8.5 lakh cooperatives in India. On the launch programme, the cooperative societies have been onboarded and enabled as buyers on the GeM.
