Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 12: As preparations for the maiden Assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have been accelerated, the Congress high command has summoned the Pradesh Congress Committee chief Vikar Rasool Wani in Delhi for an important meeting. Highly placed sources said that the important meeting will be held in New Delhi and likely to be attended by party stalwart Rahul Gandhi. “Earlier the Congress leadership thought that assembly elections in J&K would be delayed but now the high command has realized that elections would be held very soon”, sources said and added that the party has already asked the J&K unit to start the process of selecting potential candidates for all Assembly segments. Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 12: Chanting “Bum Bum Bhole” with enthusiasm, more than 380 pilgrims left a Jammu base camp on Monday for the shrine of Budha Amarnath in the Poonch district amid tight security arrangements, officials said. The sixth batch of 382 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp at 5.15 am in a convoy of 10 vehicles escorted by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and police, they said. NEW DELHI, Aug 12: The Centre on Monday issued an advisory to private news channels to carry a date and timestamp on visuals of natural disasters and major accidents while reporting on such incidents. The advisory, issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, noted that television channels provide continuous coverage of natural disasters, major accidents over several days but keep showing the footage from the day the incident took place. Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 12: Jammu & Kashmir government has remitted the remaining term of imprisonment of five life convicts. In a notification, J&K’s Lieutenant Governor has ordered remission of the remaining period of imprisonment of five prisoners who were sentenced to life imprisonment by courts.’ According to the notification, the government granted remission to Mohd. Yousaf Shah (Jammu), Des Raj (Jammu), Suresh Kumar (Reasi), Tarseem Lal (Jammu ) and Mohammad Bashir (Poonch).
