Nearly 14 ex-MLAs, former ministers likely to be replaced by BJP | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 13: Even as the BJP has yet not finalized panels of potential candidates for coming Assembly polls, the party is likely to replace as many as 14 former MLAs and ex-ministers who won elections in 2014.
Highly placed sources said that the central leadership of the BJP has already received initial reports of the survey conducted by the two private agencies.
“Feedback and reports of some former ministers and ex-legislators are not encouraging so the party is seriously thinking of replacing those who got negative remarks during these surveys”, sources said.
Notably two private survey agencies have reported less than favorable feedback about these leaders.
Sources indicate that the majority of people interviewed by these agencies did not provide positive feedback about the former BJP legislators and ex-ministers who were in power with the PDP from 2015 to 2018.
During interactions, people recalled the roles and attitudes of BJP ministers during their tenure.

Srinagar, Aug 13: The Amarnath Yatra was suspended on Tuesday on both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes in Jammu and Kashmir due to inclement weather following heavy rains earlier in the week.

The Election Commission will hold a meeting with Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on Wednesday to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir where it plans to hold assembly polls, sources said.
The EC had reviewed the poll preparedness in Jammu and Kashmir last week.
Addressing a press conference in Jammu, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar had emphasised that the poll authority is committed to holding assembly elections in the Union Territory at the earliest.

The GST Council, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, will meet on September 9.
“The 54th Meeting of GST Council will be held on 9th September, 2024 at New Delhi,” the Council said in a post on X. The GST Council, comprising finance ministers of Centre and states, is the apex decision making body with regard to Goods and Services Tax (GST), which was rolled out on July 1, 2017.

A suspected Pakistani intruder trying to infiltrate into India from the Punjab border was shot dead by the BSF amid an ongoing “high alert” ahead of Independence Day.
A Border Security Force (BSF) spokesperson said the man was spotted “surreptitiously” crossing the international boundary in the Dal village of Tarn Taran district around 8:30 pm on Monday and approaching the border fence.
