Frustrated over success of “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, terrorists step up attacks | | |

Jammu, Aug 16: Frustrated over the overwhelming response of the people to the just concluded “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign terrorists, on the direction of their mentors sitting across the border, have stepped up attacks over the past week.
Two policemen attained martyrdom and a migrant labourer was killed in three terror attacks during the last three days in Kashmir Valley.
On Tuesday terrorists attacked two Kashmiri Pandit brothers in which one Sunil Kumar Bhat succumbed to his injuries while as brother Pitamber Bhat is struggle for life in the hospital.
Four Army jawans including one JCO attained martyrdom during a suicidal attack in the Darhal area of Rajouri.
On Independence Day two grenade attacks took place in Budgam and Srinagar districts in which two persons were injured.
On Monday a member of the minority community was injured in a grenade blast in the Gopalpora area of Central Kashmir's Budgam district.

Srinagar, Aug 16: A Kashmiri Pandit was shot dead by terrorists at an apple orchard in Shopian district today. His brother was injured in the firing, police said.
This comes about three months after the killing of a Kashmiri Pandit at a government office in Budgam sparked widespread protests by the community. Since then, over 5000 Kashmiri Pandit employees are not attending their duties, fearing targeted attacks. They are demanding relocation to Jammu till the time situation in the Valley improves.

Srinagar, Aug 16: Two persons, including a civilian from minority community, were injured in two grenade attacks by militants in Kashmir on Monday, police said.
The ultras carried out two grenade attacks within an hour — one at a minority habitation in Chadoora in Budgam district and another at Police Control Room in Srinagar, police said.

Srinagar, Aug 16: Seven Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel died and 32 others including policemen were injured when their vehicle skidded off the road at Chandanwari in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday morning, officials said.
They said the accident took place as the driver allegedly lost control over the vehicle due to slippery road conditions caused by rain and the vehicle carrying 37 ITBP personnel and two policemen fell into a deep gorge between Pahalgam and Chandanwari.
