Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 1: As the Election Commission of India has started the process of conducting assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir along with three other states, the BJP has decided to formally start the election campaign on August 5 from the border town of R S Pura. Although BJP leaders are tight-lipped over the presence of senior leaders in the scheduled rally in R S Pura, sources said that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to address the function. “Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to address the rally but there is no official confirmation so far”, a senior BJP leader said and added that Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, who is election incharge of J&K along with Tarun Chugh, incharge J&K BJP will address the rally”. On June 17, the BJP has appointed Union Minister G Kishan Reddy as the election in-charge for Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir. India to record above-normal rainfall

New Delhi, Aug 1: India is predicted to record above-normal rainfall in August and September, with a good chance of favourable La Nina conditions developing by the end of August, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday. The monsoon is critical for India’s agricultural landscape, with 52 per cent of the net cultivated area relying on it. The primary rain-bearing system is also crucial for replenishing reservoirs critical for drinking water and power generation across the country.
