Thousands of NYCs go astray as regularisation remains a distant dream | Blunders of J&K’s past regimes | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 19: A decade has passed since the then National Conference led government engaged more than one thousand youth as National Youth Corps (NYCs) in Jammu and Kashmir, the youth were assured that they will be regularised soon. However, till date, their fate continues to remain in limbo.
As per the government sources, no concrete measures have been taken till date to regularize these youth with authorities citing major budget constraints in the entire process.
The NYC was launched by amalgamating the then existing two volunteer schemes National Service Volunteer (NSV) and Rashtriya Sadbhawana Yojana (RSY). What reveals the dilatory mode of functioning in the erstwhile J&K state is that on February 23, 2017, the NYC deputations met the then J&K chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti, and apprised her about their plight. JAMMU, Aug 19: The Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) has refused to share the details of new ration card holders of one panchayat of tehsil Arnia, added in the list of the department in the last five years. The information was sought by the applicant under Right to Information (RTI) Act but instead the Assistant Public Information Officer (APIO) Arnia in return gave a link of department’s website to get the information, which was actually not available there.

New Delhi, Aug 19: The Centre on Wednesday ordered “immediate” withdrawal of about 10,000 paramilitary personnel from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
This is the biggest de-induction of these forces after additional troops were rushed to the UT post the abrogation of the Article 370 of the Constitution that gave the erstwhile state a unique status.

Srinagar, Aug 19: The authorities here in Kashmir have identified major hospitals where the oxygen plants will be installed.
The Divisional Commissioner has directed officers to arrange and maintain the availability of high flow oxygen supply to dedicated COVID Hospitals in each district for a minimum of 100 beds.
