Rahul kick starts campaign in Jammu by raking up locals-non-locals issue to corner BJP | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 22: Kickstarting the election campaign for Assembly polls from Jammu, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi vociferously raked up locals and non-local issue to corner the ruling BJP during electioneering.
“Being a land of Dogras Jammu has its own unique and cherished history, identity culture, and ethos. This is the land of Mata Vaishno Devi but some forces are trying to eradicate Jammu’s distinct culture and identity”, Rahul Gandhi said while addressing party workers at Jammu.
The Leader of the Opposition, however, asserted that the Congress is committed to protecting the history, culture, and identity of the Jammu region.
“Unlike BJP and RSS who are desperate to centralize the whole country, the Congress strongly believes in the decentralization of power at the grassroots to empower the common masses”, he said and promised Congress will protect the rights of the people of Jammu region.

LEH, Aug 22: Six people were killed and 22 more injured when a bus skidded off the road and fell into a 200-feet-deep gorge in Ladakh’s Leh district, officials said. The bus, taking staff members of a school to a wedding function, fell into the gorge in the Durbuk area, Leh Deputy Commissioner Santosh Sukhadeve said.
The official said personnel of the district administration and police admitted the injured to a local hospital, where they were given first aid.
