ED undertakes first-ever searches in Ladakh | Cryptocurrency Fraud Case | |

SRINAGAR, Aug 2: In its first ever raids in the Union Territory of Ladakh, the Enforcement Directorate on Friday conducted searches as part of its money laundering probe linked to a cryptocurrency fraud case in which investors lost more than Rs 7 crore worth of deposits, officials said.
The agency’s zonal office here raided at least six premises in Leh town of Ladakh, Jammu in J-K and Sonipat in Haryana in the case against A R Mir and others.

SRINAGAR, Aug 2: At least three persons were killed when a car in which they were travelling skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday.
The ill-fated car was on its way to Tweetwal from Chiterkote when it met with an accident near Teetwall Sikh Bridge in Karnah area causing death to three persons including the driver of the vehicle, traffic police officials said.
The deceased have been identified as driver Mushtaq Ahmad (50), Nazeer Ahmad Magarys (55) and Farooz Ahmad Pala (45) all residents of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Leh, Aug 2: The General Administration Department of the Union Territory of Ladakh has mandated that employees must obtain prior permission to travel abroad while on leave, effective August 1, 2024.
A GAD order issued by Ladakh Admin expressed concern over submission of late applications seeking permission to travel abroad despite existing guidelines.

NEW DELHI, Aug 2:
Income Tax returns (ITRs) touched a new record of over 7.28 crore, 7.5 per cent higher compared to previous fiscal, by the July 31 deadline, the income tax department said on Friday.
The total number of ITRs for assessment year 2024-25 filed till July 31, 2024 is more than 7.28 crore, which is 7.5 per cent higher than the total ITRs for AY 2023-24 (6.77 crore) filed till July 31, 2023, the department said in a statement.
“Out of the total ITRs of 7.28 crore filed for AY 2024-25, 5.27 crore have been filed in the new tax regime compared to 2.01 crore ITRs filed in the old tax regime,” it said.
Thus, about 72 per cent of taxpayers have opted for the new tax regime,... | |
