Tainted’ doctor lobbies for extension in Govt services | Senior doctors seek Raj Bhawan intervention | | ET Report
Jammu, Aug 29: Accused of numerous scams including appointment of his own spouse “fraudulently”, an allegedly tainted doctor, who heads a government run hospital in Bemina locality of Srinagar is lobbying for extension of his services.
Sources said the medico is scheduled to retire in the coming months but that he is lobbying for his extension and has started doing the rounds of corridors of power including some former ministers and politicians.
Sources said the doctor has been telling the government that only he could run the hospital and that if he is allowed to retire, “the system will collapse.”
It is pertinent to mention that the doctor has already been under scanner for having unlawfully appointed his wife for a senior post at the same hospital which he heads.
Besides he is accused of having elevated a Russian doctor having police cases registered against him at a key post in decision making. The said Russian doctor was a favorite of the PDP led government.

SRINAGAR, Aug 29: The COVID-19 recovery rate in Jammu & Kashmir has reached 77 percent as 648 virus affected patients who have recovered were discharged from different hospitals and COVID centres of union territory today.
In the meantime, 546 fresh cases of Corona Virus were reported today and as a result of same the number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir is 36,377. Since seven more virus affected patients died in the past 24 hours the total number of casualties in the union territory is 685.

SRINAGAR, Aug 29: Jammu and Kashmir Union territory administration is mulling to hold polls on vacant Panchayat seats this year probably in the month of September- October.
There are close to 13,000 vacant seats in panchayats across Jammu and Kashmir.
This will be the first major political exercise since the abrogation of Article 370 in August last year. The state of Jammu and Kashmir was also split into two Union territories - J&K and Ladakh.
Sources said that an election on vacant Panchayat seats would be conducted in September-October.
