NC dares Azad on Kashmir case | | |

Srinagar, Aug 3: In a major offensive, the National Conference has taken a dig at former Chief Minister and veteran politician Ghulam Nabi Azad over his claims that he has challenged the August 5, 2019 decisions on Jammu and Kashmir through senior lawyer Kapil Sibal, who is also a senior Congress leader.
Sharing his picture with Sibal, Azad had recently said: “Gratitude for the brilliant efforts of @KapilSibal sahib as he fearlessly & eloquently presented the crucial issue of #Article370 in SC today. We have been unwaveringly fighting from Parliament to the Supreme Court, in pursuit of justice for the people of J&K.”
“With unwavering hope and anticipation, we look to the SC to deliver fair judgment for the rightful aspirations of the people!,” Azad added.

Since 2018, CBI filed cases against 216 civil servants: Govt | | |

NEW DELHI, Aug 3: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered cases against 216 civil servants in more than five years, Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday.
Giving a state-wise break-up, the government said 39 civil servants were from Maharashtra, 22 from Jammu and Kashmir, 21 from Delhi, 17 from Uttar Pradesh and 14 from Karnataka among others.
”During the last five years viz. 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 (up to 30.06.2023), the CBI has registered cases against 216 number of civil service officers,” Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said in a written reply.

New Delhi, Aug 3: There are 1,365 vacancies in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and 703 in the Indian Police Service (IPS), Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday.
Besides these, 1,042 vacancies exist in the Indian Forest Service (IFS) and 301 in Indian Revenue Service (IRS), Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said in a written reply.
“Occurrence and filling up of vacancies is a continuous process. It is the endeavour of the central government to fill up vacant posts expeditiously,” he said.

New Delhi, Aug 3: Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba was on Thursday given one-year extension, beyond August 30, 2023, in service by the government, according to a Personnel Ministry order.
This is his third extension on the post.
Gauba, a former Union home secretary, was in 2019 appointed to the country's top bureaucratic post for two years.
He was given one-year extension in 2021 and then in August last year.

New Delhi, Aug 3: The Delhi High Court on Thursday listed for hearing on August 7 a plea for virtual production of banned JKLF chief Yasin Malik from jail in connection with the NIA’s plea seeking death penalty for him in a terror-funding case.
The application by the jail superintendent was adjourned after a bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Anish Dayal, which was scheduled to hear the request, did not assemble.
The high court had on May 29 issued warrants for production of Malik, who is presently serving life term in the case in Tihar Jail, on August 9 when the NIA’s plea for enhancement of sentence is listed for hearing.

SRINAGAR, Aug 3: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday trapped and arrested a revenue official for demanding and accepting bribe in Jammu Kashmir’s Budgam district.
A complainant approached Police Station ACB Srinagar with a written complaint against a public servant, identified as Fayaz Ahmad Shora, Senior Assistant/ In-Charge Nazir Tehsil Office Khag, alleging demand of bribe for listing his case of property dispute sooner in the court of Tehsildar concerned, a statement of the ACB.
