Jammu, Aug 4: On the eve of the third anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha on Thursday said that given the enormous resources in the region there was no need for the youth to pick up guns.
Inaugurating a handcrafts centre in Ranipora area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor said that Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has created history by setting up the highest number of manufacturing and service units in the UT under its flagship scheme- Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) and creating the highest number of jobs in comparison with all other States and UTs in India in the year 2021-22.
With a record 21,640 manufacturing and service units, J&K stands way ahead of bigger States like Uttar Pradesh (12,594 units), Madhya Pradesh (8082 units), Tamil Nadu (5972 units), Karnataka (5877), and Gujarat (4140 units). A massive 1.73 lakh new employment in J&K in 2021-22, under PMEGP alone, is also the highest across all states and UTs in India.

Jammu, Aug 4: In the wake of intelligence inputs of “terrorist movement” ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, a high alert has been sounded in the adjoining Ramban and Udhampur districts of Jammu province.
Highly placed sources said the intelligence agencies have inputs of the possible terror movement in the twin districts falling along the strategic national highway between Srinagar and Jammu.
Sources said the government has received credible inputs about the movement of the terrorists in the area and that the recent blast in Ramban was a part of the same terror plot.

Ramban, Aug 4: At least 5 persons died and many others were injured after a tempo they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge near Kela Morh district on Thursday evening, officials said.
An official told that the accident took place near Kela Morh in Ramban district on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
He said that four persons died on the spot while another one succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
However, the identity of the deceased and injured was not immediately known.

SRINAGAR, Aug 4: A migrant labourer died and two others were injured after militants hurled a grenade in Gadoora area of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, said. The area has been cordoned off and efforts have been launched to nab the militants, said J&K Police.

SRINAGAR, Aug 4: The Government today informed that 779 fresh positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19)have been reported today; 142 from Jammu division and 637 from Kashmir division, thus taking the total number of positive cases to 467422. JAMMU, Aug 4: The pace of construction of roads has increased after the scrapping of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019 from 6.54 kilometres to 20.6 kilometres a day. Now, the total length of roads in Jammu and Kashmir has touched 41,141 kilometres. The increased pace of macadamization of roads and growing road length indicate how rapidly Jammu and Kashmir has developed during the past three years.
