Ahead of Assembly polls, Congress leaders warn against imposing outsider candidate in Bishnah | | |

Jammu, Aug 6: Amid reports that Congress is going to give the mandate to a national leader on the Bishnah reserved Assembly segment, local Congress leaders warned against imposing a parachute candidate.
“A leader, who has never worked in the Bishnah assembly segment, is claiming the party mandate is in his pocket”, senior leader and district secretary of Congress, Devraj Bhagat while addressing media, along with senior leaders, said.
“How can a leader who never worked in this Assembly segment and is unaware of the topography of this area claim himself as party candidate?”, Bhagat asked and warned that imposing a parachute candidate would be proved disastrous for the party in the Assembly polls.

Srinagar, Aug 6: The Centre on Tuesday said that only two terrorists attacks on pilgrims have taken place between 2022 and 2024 in Jammu and Kashmir, with 14 casualties reported in these incidents.

JAMMU, Aug 6: A souvenir shop run by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) was gutted in a fire incident en route to the cave shrine atop the Trikuta hills in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said.
The shop located on the new Himkoti trek suffered extensive damage in the fire, which was caused by short-circuit, the officials said. The SMVDSB operates souvenir shops at various places en route to the cave shrine.

Jammu, Aug 6: After a day long suspension of Yatra, a fresh batch of 1873 pilgrims chanting ‘Bam Bam Bhole’ on Tuesday left for Shri Amarnath cave shrine from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas base camp here.
As many as 1873 pilgrims left only for Baltal in a fleet of 69 vehicles under tight security arrangements, while no pilgrim left for Pahalgam.
The yatra was suspended on Monday due to security reasons in view of fifth anniversary of Article 370 abrogation.
Last year, over 4.5 lakh pilgrims paid obeisance at the cave shrine.
